We are a 501c3 organization which is governed by a board of 5 members . We are comprised of an all volunteer staff who work hard to ensure that we can host events which uphold the foundation of our mission and promote education, retention, reactivation and recruitment of individuals in the outdoors.
Country Camo Outdoors Veterans Alliance was formed in 2015, in Ohio, by husband and wife Larry and Jeana Mitchell. Larry and Jeana are Christians and have felt it is part of their calling to use the outdoors as a way to help others. Jeana is a disabled Army vet and a survivor of childhood sexual assault and domestic violence. Larry introduced Jeana to the world of hunting and the outdoors and it was there she found peace, her voice and her inspiration. It was then, both decided it was this type of therapy and relaxation they wanted to share with others, and Country Camo Outdoors was formed. In 2020 the name was changed to Country Camo Outdoors Veterans Alliance to better reflect the mission of the organization.
Since 2015 CCO Veterans Alliance has went on to host annual events to teach children proper fishing practices and skills, an annual event for ladies only to give ladies skills to get them in the outdoors, and an annual Honor Hunt for veterans in which the organization pays for everything except for travel to and from base camp. WE feel it is important to not label our veteran hunt exclusively for those with disabilities, but rather for those veterans who need healing,. We want to focus on healing in the form of physical, mental and the spiritual becuase we fully understand when our spiritual self is healed the rest seems to fll into place.
We have adapted the mission of helping veterans one hunt at a time, while promoting conservation through education to all!
